Shipping FAQ

When will my order ship?
We generally process & pack orders the same day they are received or the next day; however, what day they ship depends on the time of year.

During the cooler months (generally Oct-April), we ship Mon-Fri.  Orders placed Friday evening through Sunday evening will get packed and shipped on Monday.

During the hot months (generally May-Sept), we ship Mon-Wed in order to avoid any chocolate orders sitting in a warm warehouse over the weekend.  Orders placed Wednesday evening through Sunday evening will be shipped on Monday.

During high volume shipping periods (around the holidays, Valentine's Day, and Easter) orders may take up to 48-72 hours to process and pack before shipping.

If you need your order rushed, please select two-day or overnight shipping during check out and we will expedite the packing of your order.

Will my chocolate melt?
We check the weather before shipping to make sure that any orders transiting through areas with temperatures above 75 F, ship with insulation.  We add ice packs if the temperatures will be above 80 F.

Because we are shipping out of Atlanta, which has a long summer, most orders shipping between May and September will include insulation and ice packs.

During the summer, we only ship Mon-Wed in order to avoid having any orders sit over a weekend in a hot warehouse.

We strongly encourage you to check your tracking information, especially during warm weather, so that you know when to expect your package.  Even packed securely with insulation and ice packs, if your chocolate is left all day inside a metal mail box in the hot sun or on a hot front step, it may melt.  We encourage you to know when your package will arrive so you can bring it inside.

How do you ship carbon neutral?
We're proud to purchase carbon offsets for every online order that we ship out.  These offsets come at no additional expense to our customers--we foot the bill.  Purchasing these carbon offsets is just one of the ways we work to fulfill our third mission to "Positively impact livelihoods, health, and sustainability through focused growth."  Our carbon offsets go to a program that protects old-growth forest and seeks to increase biodiversity in the communities of Acapa and Bajo Mira y Frontera in south-western Colombia. This program is managed by local, indigenous Afro-Colombian communities who are best able to provide appropriate and committed stewardship. You can read more about the program here
