Krog Street Market, which is set to open in "less than two months," has added a sweet shop and announced a concept change. Xocolatlwill offer artisanal and hand-crafted chocolate bars, with organic cacao sourced from small-scale growers in the Americas. Owners Elaine Read and Matt Weyandt will roast, crack, winnow, stone grind, and temper the product on site.
"This is our contribution to the craft food movement embraced here in Atlanta," Read and Weyandt said in a statement. "While cacao can never be locally-sourced, our other ingredients are local whenever possible and each micro-batch is thoughtfully cultivated to bring out the unique flavor profile of the bean and its flavor pairings."
